i never forget last year’s school sports 1500-meter race was one of the most before the race, my best friend xiaoshan had a goal to be as a matter a fact, she is not so strong, but she is a sunny she is active and likes doing what’s more, she tries her best to achieve the goal, but i wonder if she is able to be the there were eight players in the on the first lap, she was in the sixth place; on the second lap, the took the fourth place, she went on running and she ran toward her goal, the goal in her mind, look! on the last lap, she was the first to pass the finishing line, she was the oh, great! she made it! congratulations!
at that time, i knew a goal was so necessary and i made a decision : “i want to take part in the english speaking competition held in my what’s more, i will try my best to be in the competition as my best friend xiaoshan did in sports ” i am sure of i still remembered what my english teacher said to he said :“if anyone took the first place in our school english speaking competition, he or she will be chose to take the competition held in it’s a great honor!”
though i can do well in my english written exams, however, to be honest, i am a little afraid to speak english in my english teacher often encourages me: “raoning, your voice sounds so beautiful, be brave, you will ” from then on, i kept a goal in i said to myself aloud: stick to your goal and you will and then i try my best to improve my oral english and dare to speak either in class or after at last, i took part in the competition and became i am chose to take part in the next year’s english speaking competition held in i said to myself aloud again: come on! you will

It’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.
Frankly speaking, i don’t quite agree with them.indeed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples).but why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.
There are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. Overwhelmed by such a trend,chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
With the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. We are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the earth.the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer is definitely no. What we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.

Youth
Youth is not a time of life,it is a state of mind;it is not rosy cheeks,red lips and supple knees,it is a matter of the emotions:it is the freshness;it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite,for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 .Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.
Whether 60 of 16， there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders， the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.

I have a question for you. ‘Do you know how to breathe?’ Okay, I know what you are thinking now, “Girl, are you kidding me? Everybody knows how to breathe.” Actually, if I were you sitting down in there one year ago, I would think, “How did she make it to the final?”
Alright, seriously speaking, what I am talking about is “the art of breathing”, and it’s about breathing in a Yoga way: peacefully and always under control. What it reveals is the real essence of perseverance, “In order to achieve, sometimes, you need to wait.” And when it comes to things you really want in life, it is as hard as it could possibly be.
For me, singing is a life thing. When I am singing on the stage, I feel whole-heartedly involved, and the self-fulfillment it renders is inexplicably thrilling. But with all the realistic problems I need to face in life, all those I want seem too far to be true– so far that I am terrified that I will never ever be able to get there and that gradually I will be carried away by the currents and torrents of life. I’ve been drowned into this ambivalence for so long. Now, with a refined perspective towards self-realization, I am waiting, in a graceful posture, and knowing that I am going to get there. And on this, I should say, I owe Yoga a thank-you.
I still remember, about one year ago, I attended a Yoga course for the very first time. And to tell you the truth, I went there for a nice figure. However, after practicing for some time, I discovered that there was an ineffable inner-strength burgeoning sneakily in me while I totally focused. In order not to let go this significant power, I started to picture all I wanted in my mind while I was fully concentrating, for I believe the wings of imagination could make things possible. I learned to breathe with my dreams, shaping the eagerness into this elegant gesture of persisting.
And now, if you ask me what exactly is “the art of breathing”, I would say it is indeed “the art of living”. It combines the search of balance, the grace of patience, and the awareness of appreciation.
So even though feelings are tied up with life routines, I could still hold onto that free EGO which I have always adored: the girl who is singing under the spotlight, with all her heart and soul; the girl who is persevering with all she believes in and always feels grateful for what has been bestowed on her.
That girl is now standing right here in front of you, hoping that you are all as lucky as she is, living with dreams and love. No matter how tough things get, I tell myself, I tell myself that, every single thing I am doing now is every step closer to that very moment of my trajectory, just like every Yoga breath to every blossom moment of my life.

Today on 15th August 20xx India is celebrating its 67th Independence Day, and we Indians are proud to say we have owned our freedom 67 years old back. As we gather here today I take the opportunity to congratulate every student and teacher of this School/college a Happy Independence Day! We have assembled here to celebrate our 67th Independence Day. As a citizen of India, I am so proud to talk to you about my mother India. On the night of August 14, 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru rose to make a maiden speech in New Delhi, “When the world sleeps, India will wake to life and freedom.” Yes, India became free from the bondage of British rule. Now, India is the largest democratic country in the world. The country’s strength is to find, “Unity in diversity”.
But, there are stray incidents that test her secularism but the people of India are ready to sacrifice anything for the cause of unity. Today we remember the great leaders who gave their lives for the nation’s freedom and prosperity. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar gave the longest written constitution to us. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru worked for an industrialized India. Gandhi Ji taught us Ahimsa and Non-violence. Subash Chandra Bose inducted courage in us. Swami Vivekanand gave us spiritual power. Yes, with these contributions; India will be the super power in the coming years.
Our former President Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam called the children of India to dream to build a strong Nation with aim and perseverance. Indeed! This is not a word of a single man. It is word of one billionsouls.

Unfortunately，however，this attitudewill do you no good，because if you will have no courage even to face them，howcan you conquer them? Thus，be optimistic，ladies and gentlemen，as it can giveyou confidence and help you see yourself through the hard times，just as WinstonChurchill once said，“An optimist sees an opportunity in every calamity; apessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity.”

genghis khan, “khan of khans”, was the great leader of mongolians. at the end of 12th century, he united mongolian tribes and challenged other powers to expand his huge mongolian empire, which extended from south china to the caspian sea.
in 1277, khan attacked the west xia kingdom （presently ningxia） and encountered strong resistance. he died of disease and age. the great emperor was later buried secretly according to mongolian custom. it says that after the burial 2,000 men were slaughtered by some 800 soldiers who were in turn executed so that the location of the real tomb remains a secret.
there are four sacrifice ceremonies held annually to commemorate the great hero and leader of the mongolian people. the ceremony, held on march 21st on lunar calendar, is the grandest. after the ceremony, horse racing, archery and wrestling are held as entertainment.

I can never forget the summer in 1996. I went through an extremity of despair due to my failure in the National College Entrance Examination. It seemed that my dream of being a university student would never come true. One evening my father came and told me the story of Steven Callahan, who was crossing the Atlantic alone in his sailboat when it struck something and sank. It was a miracle that he survived and was found 76 days later(the longest anyone has survived a shipwreck on a life raft alone). Later in his narrative he wrote these sentences "I tell myself I can handle it ared to what others have been through I’m fortunate".
Hearing these sentences I felt something important struck me. I belived my life would mot be that bad and it was proved to be true. Later during my study in the university I always told myself "I can handle it" when my own goals seemed far off or when my problems seemed too overwhelming and every time I said it ,I always came back to my senses.
, I will tell the same story of Callahan to them. I just want to make them believe they can handle their difficulties because their circumstances are only bad compared to something better. But others have been through much worse. Then they will build up fortitude.
So here, coming to us from the extreme edge of survival, are words that can give us strength. Whatever you’re going through, tell yourself you can handle it. Compared to what others have been through, you’re fortunate. Tell this to yourself over and over, and it will help you get through the rough spots with little more fortitude.
many things in this world find neither an answer nor a proper explanation. for example，why should two become a couple among the billions of people on earth？why don't they love each other even though they live together everyday，and yet one of them falls in love with someone else at the first sight？
people remain puzzled in spite of their great effort to understand the endless questions，so they invented the all—embracing word "predestination". have you heard about the sayings like："predestination will definitely bring you together despite the great distance while without predestination，you’ll never know each other even though you are standing face to face."
in fact，the so—called "predestination" is often a kind of coincidence，even a kind of accident. does anyone know anything about his previous life or his after life？what could he do even if he knew them？giving up today is the same as giving up tomorrow.
predestination needs us to strive for；friendship needs us to maintain；good will needs us to treasure and future needs us to create.（there is no savior，nor goddess of mercy who once saved people in the past but cannot do anything to help the people at the present.）
（predestination is a lovely word which we should treasure and respect.）in the present world，we should always follow the win—win or multi—win policy，instead of being single—handed. we might as well call the communication，the cooperation，the common concerns and the common aspirations of human beings "predestination".

answers：thank you for your questions. to be honest，although i deeply know that there is no goddess of mercy who once saved people in the past but cannot do anything to help people at the present，sometimes i still believe predestination is truly exist，and i always add some colurs of emotions. it does not mean that i’m not respect science. talking about predestination，it's just a kind of explanation about what has happened. so the most important thing we should do is to strive for and treasure predestination，then spare our no efford to work together.
The tempo of modern civilization has been much quickened in the last twenty years。 While witnessing the dramatic changes in the better-off society，people begin to reconsider the question of "survival"。 "Survival" in the old sense does not bother us anymore。 Instead，we are more concerned about how to "survive" in the human world full of petition。
Competition always carries abreast challenges and opportunities to everyone involved。 It might appear in an entrance exam，in a regular class，or in a small public speech。 Those who fail to detect its real nature-whether an opportunity or a challenge a petition really is- will lose something more or less conducive to our growth。 Of course，if we take the petition as an opportunity，we will favor it intentionally because they can help us outstand from the average; they will make us bee the focus of public attention; they will grant us more chances and rights to succeed。 As a matter of fact，opportunities are supposed to be more perceptible and weling than challenges。 The truth is，however，we will lose more opportunities when we choose to take the "opportunity" fork at the crossroads。 The other fork，ignored by us and defined as "fearful challenges"，offers much more chances for the walker in petition。
We have such an inclination in life to overestimate ourselves and hold a thoughtless attitude towards the negative outlook of things。
We believe in the old saying，"Opportunity knocks but just once，" so we always wele it and devote all our spirit and efforts to it。 The most devout believer of this saying are the graduates。 Why?
